Information You Submit
A name, location, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. We do not store or log those search terms on our systems. If you email or submit a contact message, we keep the message long enough to respond and manage the request. We do not share it outside our organization unless a valid legal requirement applies.
Automatic Technical Data
Routine web logs and measurement tools can collect technical details when a page loads. The data may include:
- IP address;
- browser type and version;
- device type and operating system;
- pages viewed and time spent;
- the referring site, when supplied;
- date and time stamps.
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site. Browser controls can reject or remove them, though some tools may then work differently.
How Information Is Used
Collected data supports a limited set of operating needs:
- keeping pages available and responsive;
- sending a search request to the selected partner;
- learning which resources readers find useful;
- diagnosing errors and security issues;
- displaying advertising that may reflect interests.
Outside Websites
Links can lead to Scott County release records, Minnesota sheriff or corrections pages, court and government portals, and outside search tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination’s own privacy terms apply. Minnesota government data is governed by laws including the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, but each agency controls its own records and access process.
Advertising providers may measure activity across sites on their own systems. We do not control that collection.
Who May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be handled by:
- search partners that receive a query;
- analytics providers;
- advertising networks;
- law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order.
Data Security
We use ordinary administrative and technical safeguards suited to a public website. No internet-connected service can promise that every transmission or stored item is immune from loss, misuse, or unauthorized access.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly seek personal information from anyone under eighteen. A parent or guardian who believes a minor sent information may use the Contacts page to request deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the data we actually hold, a person may ask for a copy, request a correction, seek deletion, or object to certain processing. Contact us with enough detail to locate the item. A request about a sheriff, court, DOC, or VINE record must go to the government office that maintains it.
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this notice as services or legal duties change. A new version takes effect when posted here with its updated effective date.
