Scott County Jail Release Paths
A departure from Scott County Jail can lead to several places. Bail, release on recognizance, a court order, dismissal accompanied by release, time served, or completion of a county sentence may return a person to the community. A transfer does not. The receiving authority may be another county, the Minnesota Department of Corrections, a federal agency, immigration custody, or another agency named in the record.

A generic “Hold for Another Agency” notation does not identify ICE or any other specific recipient. No official evidence shows that Scott County Jail is a contracted ICE detention facility. The underlying record must name the agency before any such claim is made.

Exact disclosure depends on what Scott County maintains and how each item is classified. Scott County can deliver public data through the portal, pickup, email, mail, fax, or onsite inspection when reasonable and possible. Under Minn. Sheriff Records does not hold court files. Scott County Court Administration handles those at 952-496-8200. Keeping the request with the office that created each record reduces delay and avoids mixing a legal order with the physical release event.

Scott County Jail Facility Facts
The Scott County Sheriff's Office operates the county jail inside the Scott County Law Enforcement Center. The official Jail and Warrants page describes an adult pretrial and sentenced facility for men and women. It uses direct- and remote-supervision units. Certain juveniles may be held only on a limited temporary basis while appropriate placement is arranged, and restricted juvenile information is outside the public adult release workflow.
The building has its own kitchen, laundry, medical unit, and courtroom. The public entrance is the north Law Enforcement Center entrance nearest Third Avenue West and Fuller Street. Scott County does not publish a separate final discharge door, general release hours, weekend or holiday discharge process, family waiting area, or rideshare rule. Use the published entrance for public business, but do not assume it is the unlisted discharge exit.
Scott County Jail Community Release
Scott County's Community Release Program is still custody. Work Release or Huber, Sentence to Service, electronic home monitoring, school, treatment, counseling, therapy, and specified appointments can permit approved movement outside the building. None is final discharge merely because a participant is in the community for an authorized purpose.
The current program packet requires approval and checks for active warrants or holds. Participants must use authorized transportation and follow approved direct routes, reporting rules, and program conditions. An active warrant or hold in any jurisdiction makes a person ineligible for the temporary-release program. Violations, contraband, or reporting under the influence can delay privileges and may cost accrued good time.
Program charges also should not be confused with public-record fees or money paid to secure release. The packet lists work-release rates, booking and drug-screen charges, pay-for-stay, and possible lab verification. Those amounts belong to a custody program. They do not buy a final discharge and are not the price of a release record.

Scott County Jail Bail Releases

Payment is the financial or legal step. It is not the physical release timestamp. Jail staff may still need to verify the payment, review all cases and holds, complete the discharge record, and arrange a transfer if another authority has custody. A family member should confirm completion through Jail Administration rather than estimating from the payment time.
The same caution applies to a court order. An order can authorize release, but an unrelated Scott County warrant, another jurisdiction's warrant, or an agency hold may prevent community departure. The booking-level release event is the best evidence of what finally happened.
Scott County Jail Release Property
An incarcerated person can sign a Release form that authorizes a family member or friend to collect property before discharge. One set of clothing must remain at the jail. The authorized person must bring government-issued identification to the jail lobby. Published pickup hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This process is a third-party property transfer, not the published final-discharge handoff. The county does not state how clothing, personal property, or funds are returned at the moment of final release, and it publishes no gate-money policy. Anyone coordinating pickup should call Jail Administration and ask which process applies to the identified person.
Transportation also requires advance confirmation. Scott County Community Corrections links the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority trip planner, but that does not prove a certain route or stop serves the jail. Program participants follow separate preapproved-driver and direct-route rules. Those controls do not establish a general ride policy for people who have fully left custody.
Scott County Book Release Meaning
The county has an official page called Book & Release, but the label can mislead a person looking for past releases. It concerns court-ordered booking and fingerprinting appointments. The person is directed to bring government identification and a notification or court file number to the Law Enforcement Center's second floor.
That page is not a list of people released from Scott County Jail. It does not provide an actual discharge date, a rolling release window, or a photo archive. Use the county booking and release-record request for historical proof. Use the current roster only to see who is listed in custody at its printed timestamp.
The distinction matters because Scott County has no official 24-hour, 72-hour, or other recent-release feed. Comparing a current roster with an unsourced old copy can miss transfers and data changes. A formal event record gives a firmer account of the departure.

Scott County Jail Release Support
Scott County reports a coordination-of-care model that joins a jail social worker, a Jail Re-entry Probation Officer, and jail programming. The work includes release planning, treatment placement, service navigation, and resolution of warrants from other counties. It is a local transition function, not proof that a particular person is released or enrolled.
The Scott County Community Corrections office can supervise probation, conditional release, and some people released from MNDOC prison. It is located at Government Center West, 200 Fourth Avenue West in Shakopee, with a main phone of 952-496-8260. The office does not publish a public name-by-name probation list and cannot be assumed to disclose protected case details by telephone.

Scott County Release Scam Warning
The county roster page warns that scammers target families connected to people in custody or recently released. The Scott County Sheriff's Office says it will never call demanding payment. A demand can sound urgent and may use real booking details copied from a public source, so knowledge of a name or case does not make the caller legitimate.
Verify any request by ending the call and independently dialing Jail Administration at 952-496-8314. Do not rely on a callback number, payment link, or caller ID supplied by the person making the demand. The official jail line can confirm the correct county channel and whether a genuine bail or records process is pending.
A precise release record also limits confusion. It identifies whether the person returned to the community, remained in a temporary custody program, or transferred elsewhere. That is safer than acting on a roster disappearance, a message from an unknown caller, or an old online image.
